LESSON PLANS
LITERACY
In Fall 2020, I created a multicultural literacy unit that uses different versions of Cinderella to help students achieve critical literacy with a partner for a class preparing us to teach literacy. When teaching Yen-Shen and Cendrillon, we will take the time to learn about the cultures they originate from. We will celebrate different cultures and influence. This lesson plan shows students that different versions of Cinderella have no less value than one we traditionally hear in the United States. This understanding allows students to think critically about the stories and traditional conventions that go along with them.
MULTICULTURAL CINDERELLA
Grade 4
PEER EDITING
Grade 2
My partner and I created an integrated co-teaching lesson plan that utilizes all the adults in the room for an NYU course. Students with IEPs were also carefully considered for supports. This peer editing lesson is part of a writing unit where students learn how to give each other feedback to learn and grow together.
