LESSON PLANS
MULTIDISCIPLINARY
Inspired by wanting to engage students in interactive learning during quarantine, I collaborated with my NYU graduate cohort to create a unit for families of elementary-age students in Spring 2019. This unit is designed to be used flexibly at home based on families' and students' needs and schedules. It focuses on cooking and incorporates several subject areas, creating opportunities for students to learn academic skills in a real-world context while participating in their families' daily cooking and dining activities. We made English, Spanish, and Chinese versions of the unit.
AT HOME COOKING UNIT
Grades 1-6 | Math, ELA, Social Studies
LENAPE
Grade 4 | Math, ELA, Social Studies, Science, Art
In a collaborative group effort, a few classmates and I created this multidisciplinary unit on the Lenape. This unit plan ranges from critical literacy aspects to teaching students how to conduct online research. The unit cumulates in a creative narrative project where students wrote a narrative as if they were a Lenape child and had the opportunity to show what they have learned about the tribe.
